You will see the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. The Kunjapuri trek has 290 staircases, so it requires a return journey of around 04 hours. From the temple you will get the view of Haridwar, Rishikesh and Doon Valley from here.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple Trekking
Neelkanth Mahadev is the temple of Lord Shiva which is situated at an altitude of 1330 meters. This temple is 31 km from Rishikesh. The temple is a very famous temple of Lord Shiva. There is a 14 km trek from Rishikesh to Neelkanth Mahadev.
The whole thanks to the temple is surrounded by dense forests. According to mythology, the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is the sacred place where Lord Shiva consumed the poison produced during the Samudra Manthan when the gods and demons churned the ocean to get the nectar.
Lord Shiva's throat became blue due to this poison. Therefore, he is called Neelkanth here. (Literally means blue throat). For this trek it is better to just trek to succeed in the temple. Later you will return to Rishikesh by car or local shared vehicles.
Jhilmil Gufa Trekking
A four-hour trek can be done near Jhilmil Cave, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.The Jhilmil cave may be a small cave found inside the forest. There is also a small temple of Lord Shiva. Some monks live here. Very few people visit this place.
The route is not very difficult. It is also safe for senior citizens. This cave is 26 km from Rishikesh. You have to travel 04 km from Rishikesh to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. To be successful from here you have to trek 02 hours.
